Professional
My name is Max J Crider and I am a 3D artist and educator based out of Chicago. I work as a technical animator at High Voltage Software. I work on games creating deformations for character and real time simulations. In my personal work I love designing characters, especially experimental ones, that push the idea of what a character could be, how it could act and what engagement between characters can look like.

Teaching
I also consider teaching an important part of my art practice because it's something I have always enjoyed and I think it's important to give back. Due to the experimental form of training I received when finishing my B.F.A. from School of the Art Institute of Chicago, as well as my technical training. I am comfortable working with artist that want to bring more experimental ideas to life or those looking to improve their technical skills. I want to guide other artists down the path that best fits their goals while also helping them navigating the constraints that they may face.

Personal
A little about me personally is that I consider myself a dog and cat person since I always grew up with both, but I do lean a little more towards dogs. I can't wait for when my wife and I can get our own. I am also a second degree brown belt in Shotokan Karate and have wrestled for seven years in school. I loved training and competing, but never enjoyed going to the gym. I think for me it was about the personal interaction and competition. I also love movies and animation, anime included. I am always amazed with the way we can connect with characters and the way they develop throughout the story.
